Always great coffee and people. A true neighborhood delight. Everyone that works there greets you with a smile and the freaking they want you there.

Our St. Frances Cabrini Men's Group has been meeting every Wednesday morning from 6:30 am to 8:00 am at Golden Thyme for 13years. We have had as many as 15 men attend and everyone of us agrees that this is the best place for coffee, breakfast treats and community. We hope to continue for another 13 years and encourage everyone in the area to stop in. You will never regret it.

Being at the Selby Ave. JazzFest yesterday, I went in here for something tasty and refreshing to drink and so that my companion could get some caffeine for the day. The vibe of the place was both friendly and laid-back, with many people seeming to know one another. I ordered an iced, dark mocha, and my companion ordered a double espresso. Although his double was served in a 12 oz. styrofoam cup, it tasted great. We found an open table at the back and sat down for a spell. My iced dark mocha was delicious - lightly sweet, almost like a chocolate milk. As I got further into the beverage, it became stronger and sweeter in flavor and still, very good. My companion liked mine so much that he got one for himself. I noticed that when the (apparent) owner brought food to the table adjacent to ours, she was pleasant and polite and when the elder gent asked about a piece of pie, she told him what was available and then returned a few minutes later with a piece, telling him that she'd taken the liberty to warm it up for him. A very thoughtful gesture on her part.

It's not fast food...and that's a GOOD thing! This is another place in my neighborhood that I've gone by a thousand times and never dropped in. I'm trying to be a Good Person and ride my bicycle places, so I popped over there for lunch on my way to the bank. What I had was Just Right... a simple roast beef sandwich and a great cup of coffee. It was just like home, and THAT'S a good thing too. Nice folks, nice jazz... just what I was looking for.

If Cheers was a Jazz-themed coffee shop, they'd rename it after this place. The best thing about GT is the community they've established. More than likely, one of the owners will take your order and they will do so with sincere enthusiasm. They greet countless customers by their first name. You might find yourself, as I have, sitting among officials from the NAACP, boxing enthusiasts, landscapers, students from St. Thomas, or political candidates strategizing for a debate. You could go to Nina's and feel obligated to rehearse your order to cool perfection to avoid laser-eyed judgement from short-tempered baristas, or you could go to Golden Thyme, where they will make you feel good about yourself, whether you ordered a can of soda and a doughnut or a "Turtle Monk Mocha" and an omelet. The wi-fi is free and reliable, the coffee is great, and it's ideal for a meeting or to work/study by yourself.

Golden Thyme is near my parents' place, on the part of Selby that used to be scary but is now full of legitimate businesses. I stopped in for an iced latte a couple summers ago. The employees were mostly talking to their friends that were hanging out, and the barista was confused when I asked for non-fat milk, so in my experience the customer service was a bit lacking. But my iced latte was better than ones from Caribou and Wuollet Bakery so I wasn't too upset.

Best service ever! I felt like I was right at home at this cute little neighborhood coffee shop. On Fridays and Saturdays they serve delicious gumbo! I definitely will be coming back. The owner made me feel so welcomed. The Ella Fitzgerald coffee is delicious!

It was great! Had a great coffee and grits! The location is awesome there with a great pocket of locally owned businesses. The owner and chef were great and personable. I was impressed and will be back!

A neighborhood coffee shop with real music. People interact as opposed to looking at their screen. Serve peace coffee. Great place
